I've been amazed by the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in Mosca, CO since I first found it on a trip to Pagosa Springs. Looking starting at the shadowed sand at the bottom leading into the lighted sand gives me the closest feeling to being there in person. It's now a stop I always make while on my way to the San Jaun mountains. If you're taking the southern route you should stop too.
The smaller elevator of the two in Lakin, KS. Living here I almost feel required to photograph grain elevators. They dot the landscape and sometimes are placed in the middle of nowhere. The feeling of obligation faded, and as you can see for yourself the worn utility and colors can be stunning.
